Kenneth Dean Wolff was born February 28, 1931, to George and Phina (Lanning) Wolff, as the first baby born in the new Jackson Hospital in Jackson, MN. Known as "Bud" to many, in his childhood, the family moved to Harris, IA for a short time before moving to Ewington Township, Jackson County in 1940, where he attended country school. He then attended Okabena High School before going to Worthington High School in 1946, where he graduated with the class of 1950. Kenneth was active in sports, especially football and basketball. In 1949, his basketball team won the District 8 championship. In 1951, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Everglades (AD-24), a destroyer tender. He was a plank owner and machinist on the repair ship. His first overseas assignment was in 1952-53, when the USS Everglades made its first of seven Mediterranean cruises. The ship also supported the Sixth Fleet in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Kenneth was honorably discharged in November 1954. Kenneth met the love of his life, Yvonne Muller, and the two were married on April 6, 1957, at the First Presbyterian Church in Windom. The couple farmed in Southbrook Township, Cottonwood County, until moving to West Graham Lake in 1967 and then finally settling in their forever home at Timber Lake in 1987. Kenneth was interested in hunting, fishing, and wildlife, and he was feeding birds before it became popular. In the early days, he loved hunting fox and playing Truc with friends. Ken was active in the Dundee Rod and Gun Club. He was instrumental in installing the first aerator in West Graham Lake and helped with cleanup of the first swimming beach at Talcot Lake. Kenneth loved archeology, collecting Indian artifacts, politics, snowmobiling, and the MN Vikings. He enjoyed having company and hosting picnics with family and friends, and he loved spending time with all his nephews and nieces. Kenneth was called home by his Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 20th, with his loving wife by his side at Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 64 years, Yvonne; four sisters-in-law, Phyllis Wolff, Veronica Wolff, Twila Wolff and Sharlene Long; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Phina; brothers, Derald, Milton and Jim; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Lyle Gade; father- and mother-in-law, Ernest and Helen Muller; sister-in-law, Bernice and husband, Charles Waechter, and Bernice's first husband, Virgil Hengtgen; brother-in-law, Harlan Long; brother-in-law, Eugene "Bud" and wife, Lenora Muller; nephews, Thomas Wolff and Michael Gade.
