A Celebration of Life Open House to honor the life and legacy of Lance Ludvigson, age 74, of Windom, will be held Sunday, August 4th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the Windom Community Center.

Lance Gordon Ludvigson was born on January 29, 1950, to the late Gordon and Phyllis (Langland) Ludvigson, in Windom, Minnesota. Those who knew Lance recall that he was full of historical facts and stories, he enjoyed endless pranks, and he could make anyone chuckle. He was well-known in the community and was extremely talented in his trade. Lance was proud to work at the same auto body shop for the past 30 years.

At a young age, Lance was baptized and confirmed. He graduated from Windom High School and went on to attend Jackson Vo-Tech, in 1968, to expand his infinite interest and talent with autobody.

Lance lived in the Windom for his entire life and was content in the same little house for almost 40 years. Kayla recalls how his home felt like home to many, as both Kayla and Austin had lived there at one point in their lives and loved returning for visits to see what new toys, models, and projects he had going on. As kids, they spent time with Lance tinkering in the garage, while he worked on his tractors.  They especially loved riding around town with him because it was such a spectacle and was so much fun.

Lance enjoyed attending swap meets, collector auctions, gun shows, plowing events, air shows, tractor shows, steam and gas engine shows, stagecoach events, and anything to do with steam trains. He was known for his pride and joy, the John Deere 730 diesel tractor. He used his tractors as often as possible to mow the lawn for neighbors in the summer and plow driveways and sidewalks in the winter. Lance enjoyed coffee on Friday evenings with friends, he was in pool and dart leagues at Sun Bowl and was a member of a radio control model flying club. He was a collector of black powder pistols and rifles and radio control models, and he loved attending the Labor Day Plow Event at Delft, and the Butterfield and LeSueur Threshing Bee.

His reach and impact within the community was far greater than any of us knew, as he was kind, helpful and proud of the life that he lived.

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Lance passed away unexpectedly at his home in Windom.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Craig Ludvigson of Windom; niece Kayla (Radley) Moore of Roggen, CO, and Austin (Simone Otis) Ludvigson of Brighton, CO; uncle and aunt, Chuck and Sandy Langland; as well as many cousins and friends.

Lance was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Phyllis Ludvigson; grandparents, Martin & Matilda Ludvigson, and Bert & Delia Langland; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
