Larry Gene Miller was born on February 6, 1944, to Leonard and Verna (Luebben) Miller in Jackson, Minnesota. Larry was baptized and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, Minnesota. He grew up with his two sisters on the Miller Farm in Heron Lake Township, Jackson County, which was homesteaded by his grandfather in approximately 1902.
After graduating high school in 1962, Larry proudly served in the United State Marine Corps and Army National Guard, for a short period of years. He was honorably discharged and returned to Lakefield.
On September 10, 1965, he married Carla Jean Svendsen and they raised their family of three children on the farm. As a 3rd generation farmer, Larry was a hard worker and passionate steward of the land, who took great pride in tending his "purdy little rows" and providing a strong foundation for his family. Larry's wife, Carla, passed away in 1999, and he semi-retired from farming in 2004. Larry was then blessed to marry Joyce Elizabeth Ludwig on April 10, 2010, acquiring three stepchildren and now thirteen step-grandchildren. Larry was a man who loved deeply and placed great value on the virtue of family.
Larry remained an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving over the years on the Church Council and as an Elder. He enjoyed fishing and square dancing and had an insatiable love of playing cards and games. He always found joy in having a "hot one" with anyone at any time.
Larry passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2025, at the age of 81 years, at his home in rural Lakefield.
He is survived by his three children, Tamara (David) Warren of Nashville, TN, Terence (Julia) Miller of Madison, WI, and Troy Miller of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, Nathan (Michelle) Warren, Hannah (Andrew) Aaroen, Jonathan (Ruby) Warren, Angela Miller, Cedar Miller, and Rachel Miller; four great-grandchildren, Jonah, Lucas, Winona, and Koda; along with three stepchildren, Larry (Lisa) Ludwig of Richmond, Steve (Carrie) Ludwig of Richmond, Cindy Schlangen of Watkins; thirteen step-grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne (Raymond) Milbrath of Springfield, Mavis (Gary) Heath of Rochester; and numerous beloved nephews and nieces.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carla Miller; and step-son-in-law, Adam Schlangen.
