Larry John Olsen was born on May 12, 1951, in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Herman and Lois (Kroeger) Olsen. He was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, Minnesota and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Waldorf, Minnesota. He received his education in the New Richland Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1969. He then furthered his education at Mankato Vocational School in North Mankato for electronics; graduating in 1971. On August 28, 1971, Larry was united in marriage to Dona Dunkelberger at the Alliance Missionary Church in Mt. Lake. After marriage, Larry and Dona lived in New Richland for a short time before moving to rural Jeffers in 1974 to the present time. Through the years, Larry farmed and was an over the road truck driver. In the Fall of 2018, he retired. Larry was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers where he was an usher and a past council member. His true passion in life was farming and his family; especially his grandchildren. Larry also enjoyed restoring tractors, visiting and the McDonald's coffee group, spending winters in Arizona and his dog, Alba. On Saturday morning, November 2, 2019, Larry became suddenly ill at his home in rural Jeffers and was taken to Windom Area Health where he passed away at the age of 68 years. Larry is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Dona Olsen of Jeffers; two daughters, Julie (Eric) Dahlin of Jackson; Jodi (Jeremy) Johnson of Windom; three grandchildren, Rebekah, Benjamin and Morgan; mother, Lois Olsen of Mankato; three brothers, Bob (Cindy) Olsen of Leland, IA; Warren (Judy) Olsen of Wylie, TX; Dean (Liz) Olsen of Mankato;two aunts, Marilyn Gerdts of Waldorf, MN and Arliss Bloch of Waseca, MN, and many nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his father, Herman Olsen. Blessed by the memory of Larry Olsen.
