A time of visitation and gathering to honor the life and legacy of Laurel Mekosch, age 68, of Windom, will be held on Monday, November 4th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom.

Laurel Jean (Koster) Mekosch was born on August 16, 1956, to Roland and Betty (Blankenberg) Koster in Warroad, MN. She grew up in the Lutheran faith and was baptized in infancy and confirmed in her youth.

Her family moved to Lakefield, MN where she attended school. She married James Mekosch on August 9, 1973. Their only child, Cassondra, was born on November 26, 1974.

Laurel worked for many years in the manufacturing industry, eventually moving to retail business. She most recently was a department supervisor with Runnings until her retirement in August of 2018.

Laurel enjoyed being outside tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and feeding the local birds. She was an animal lover and could often be found with a dog by her side. She most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Laurel passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD, with her loving husband and family by her side.

She leaves behind her husband Jim Mekosch of Windom, MN; daughter, Cassondra (Justin) Bramstedt of Viroqua, WI; two grandchildren, Corbett Bramstedt and Samara Bramstedt both of Viroqua, WI; siblings, Shelley (Roger) Pohlman of Lakefield, Julie (Jerry) Thom of Jackson, Lee Koster of Lakefield, Jill Gomez of Lakefield, Beth Koster of Lakefield, and Linda (Lloyd) Bottin of Lakefield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Adolph Mekosch of Jackson, MN, Verdienne (Helen) Mekosch Jr. of Jackson, Sheila (Daniel) Altman of Lakefield, MN, Steven Mekosch of Windom, MN, and Brenda (Jerry) Pullar Jr. of Windom, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Betty Koster, brothers, Joel Koster and Bruce Koster; sister, Gail Henry, parents-in-law, Shirley and Verdienne Mekosch Sr.; sister-in-law, Susan Mekosch; brother-in-law, Douglas Mekosch; and several nieces and nephews.
