A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of LaVonne Kruse, age 74, of Jackson, will be held Saturday, November 9th at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson.
A visitation for LaVonne will be held on Friday, November 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson. Visitation will continue on Saturday, November 9th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson for one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
LaVonne Arlene (Wegner) Kruse was born August 9, 1950, to Earl and Clara Henrietta (Schmidtke) Wegner in Estherville, Iowa. She was baptized in the Christian faith in September of 1950 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, IA. She attended school in East Chain, graduating from there in 1968. LaVonne then attended Southwest Minnesota Vocational School in Jackson, where she met Ken, the love of her life.
The two were united in marriage on April 4, 1970, at East Chain Lutheran Church in East Chain. This marriage blessed them with three children: Amy, Cindy and Jeffery.
LaVonne worked various jobs in her life doing clerical work. She was an important part of running the family resort (Kruse's Hideaway) in Northern Minnesota from 1973-1986. Upon returning to Jackson, she worked at Dueber's Department Store, Joul Drug, Tom Burns Ford, Hedenquist Motors, and Vet's Oil Company where she retired on September 20, 2020, after 22 years of service.
LaVonne was a passionate, longtime community volunteer. She served in multiple positions at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member. She also was involved as a Youth Group Director for the church in Waubun, MN, Many Hands for Haiti and the Fort Belmont Foundation. All of these organizations had a special place in her heart.
LaVonne was a very talented at quilting and sewing. She was beyond passionate about working with the quilting group at Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she impacted many in need. She made many quilts throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and most of all spending time with her family.
LaVonne Arlene Kruse, age 74, passed away with her family by her side, on November 2, 2024, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
LaVonne is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Jackson; children, Cindy (Jim) Dinkel of Las Vegas, NV, and Jeff (Erin Olson) Kruse of Jackson, MN; grandchildren, Trevin Dinkel, Trajan Dinkel; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Eugene) Sandager of Hills, MN, and Judy Kruse of Hilo, HI; brothers-in-law, Danny Kruse of San Francisco, CA, and Wayne Moeller of Armstrong, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Kruse; parents, Henrietta and Earl Wegner; brother, Jerry (Karen) Wegner; sister, Betty Moeller; and parents-in-law, Edwin and Ruth Kruse.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Fort Belmont Foundation.
