Leona Eva Carlblom was born February 9, 1929, on a farm near Bradgate, Iowa, to the late Lars Larsen and Clara (Nelsen) Larsen. She passed away January 7, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook, MN, after a brief three-day admission. She was 91 years, 11 months old. On December 12, 1947, Leona was united in marriage to Elmer Royce Carlblom at the Jeffers Baptist Church. The marriage was blessed with three children, Daniel, Mary and Timothy. Elmer passed away on February 25, 2006.
Leona was very proud of her Danish heritage and only learned to speak English when she started school. She graduated from Jeffers Public School in 1947. Elmer and Leona lived on farms near Bingham Lake and Comfrey, before moving in 1953 to the farm, one mile north of Jeffers. This is where they raised their family and Leona lived until moving to Peterson Estates in Westbrook in 2019.
Elmer and Leona were long time members of Storden Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, lead and taught Bible school, and sang in the choir in her younger years. She also led Bible studies in her home. Leona loved farm life and helping with the livestock and raising crops. She also loved to entertain and serve meals to relatives and friends. She loved when her family was together, and especially her grandchildren, playing games and doing activities. She gave her granddaughters lessons on making pies at her "pie camp". Her home was a home-away-from-home for many Missionaries. Leona was known for her home cooked meals and her home canned garden produce.
Leona is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sue Carlblom of Apple Valley, MN; Dan and Sue's children, Stacy (Andy) Coronis and her children, Elizabeth and Brandon, and step-children, Bailey and Calvin Coronis; Meghan (Jeff) Blomquist and their son, Zachary; Leona's daughter, Mary (Robert) Leonardson of Crystal, MN; their daughters, Michelle Berkness and son, Max; Nicole Leonardson; and Natalie (Matt) Kronseng; Leona's son, Timothy (Cathy) Carlblom of Jeffers, MN; and their daughters, Diane (Jay) Ahrenholz and their children, Brooke and Ryker; and Christina (Mark Chamley) Carlblom.
Leona is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Carlblom; one son, Daniel Carlblom; her parents, Lars and Clara Larsen; and one sister and brother-in-law, Edna May and Leroy Hansen.
Blessed be the memory of Leona Carlblom.
