Obituary

A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of LeRoy Larson, age 89, of Windom, will be held Monday, January 26th at 11:00 AM at the American Lutheran Church in Windom, with a time of visitation and gathering prior to the service from 9:30-11:00 AM. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Windom. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page.

LeRoy C. Larson was born on December 25, 1936, in Windom, Minnesota to the late Thore and Leona (Eliason) Larson. Faith was a guiding force throughout LeRoy's life, shaping his values from a young age. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and remained devoted to it throughout his life. LeRoy attended District 89 in Belmont Township through the eighth grade and later graduated from Jackson High School with the Class of 1954. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from December 1959 until March 1962, when he was honorably discharged.

After returning to Windom, LeRoy was united in marriage to Elaine Bohm on March 3, 1963, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Minnesota Lake, Minnesota. Together they were blessed with three children, MicheLe, Christine and Gwen. LeRoy spent his career working for Werner Milling from 1962 to 1969, and later for the Windom Co-Op Elevator from 1969 until his retirement in 2001. He took genuine pleasure in his work and especially enjoyed the relationships he built with the local farmers he served.

As a longtime member of the American Lutheran Church, LeRoy quietly and faithfully offered his time, serving for many years as an usher. He also participated in the church dart ball team. He enjoyed bike riding in his younger years, and throughout his life he found satisfaction in gardening and took pride in keeping a well-tended lawn. LeRoy stayed active by walking, challenged his mind with word search puzzles and showed compassion for others through his visits with shut-ins while delivering Meal on Wheels.

On Monday, January 19th, LeRoy passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom, Minnesota.

Left to cherish LeRoy's memory are his wife of 62 years, Elaine E. Larson of Windom; three daughters, MicheLe Larson of Marshall, Christine (Wayne) Henderson of Edgeley, ND, and Gwen (Jay Hall) Larson of Jackson; three grandchildren, Bridget (Tanner) Wiethoff, Abigail (Mathew) Nelson and Grady Henderson; sisters, Carolyn Kain of Minnesota Lake, and Ruth (Rachel Dunn) Larson of Rochester; as well as other relatives and friends.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Thore and Leona Larson; brother Truman Larson; brother-in-law, Nylen Kain; and parents-in-law, Elmer and Esther Bohm.

Blessed be his memory.
