A Life Remembered: Linda Marlene Ebeling

August 11, 1947 – December 13, 2025

Linda Marlene Ebeling, a woman of deep faith, tireless service, and boundless energy, passed away on December 13, 2025. Born on August 11, 1947, in Jackson, Minnesota, to Bernhard and Arlene Anderson, Linda's life was defined by the quiet joy she found in her community and the care she extended to others.

A Foundation of Faith and Care

Linda's spiritual journey began at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, Minnesota, where she was baptized and confirmed. After graduating from Jackson High School, she followed a calling to care for others, attending nursing school in Minneapolis and earning her pin as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Her career was a testament to her compassion, spanning decades as she served at hospitals in

Fairmont and Lakefield, and later at the Windom Sogge Good Samaritan Center and Good Samaritan Society in Jackson. Whether working in a clinical setting or as a home health aide, Linda provided comfort and dignity to those in her care. Even outside of nursing, her friendly nature and love shone through; while helping out at the local laundromat, she turned a simple favor into a bridge for global friendships.

Family and Community

On November 30, 1968, Linda wed Wayne D. Ebeling. Together, they built a life in Windom, where they were members of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior. Though Wayne preceded her in death after 49 years of marriage, the family they built remained her greatest pride. Linda was a gifted musician who shared her talents on the piano and organ with civic groups, residents of the Sogge Home, and her church congregation for countless weddings and funerals and worship services.

Simple Joys and Spirited Days

Linda found beauty in the everyday. She was often found:

* In her garden: Tending to her favorite red geraniums and the occasional "prideful" weed.

* At her craft: Crocheting beautiful afghans as gifts of love for family and friends.

* In her books and puzzles: Finding quiet satisfaction in a good story or the click of the very last jigsaw puzzle piece.

* In the kitchen: Baking treats for her coffee club, holiday gatherings, and community events. Even in her 70s, Linda's spirit remained indomitable. To manage her arthritis, she became a familiar and beloved sight on the sidewalks of Windom, often amassing an impressive 10,000 to 18,000 steps a day while running errands and visiting friends. She was also a passionate fan of Minnesota sports, never missing a chance to cheer for the Twins and the Lynx.

Legacy of Love

Linda is survived by her three children: Brian (Sarah) Ebeling, Scott (Jen) Ebeling, and Susan Ebeling. Her memory lives on through her five grandchildren—Andrew, Cort, Thomas, Christopher, and Jennifer—as well as her siblings, Debbie (Tim) Miller, Lori (Mike) Lyon, and Larry (Sue) Anderson, and a wide circle of relatives and friends.

She now joins those who went before her: her husband Wayne; her parents, Bernhard and Arlene Anderson; her parents-in-law, Alfred and Mabel Ebeling; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Donna Ebeling; and her nephew, Grant Lyon.

Linda will be laid to rest, joining Wayne in a private ceremony at Cedar Cemetery.
