Obituary

LLOYD CLAYTON WOLF, age 90 of Jeffers, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 30, 2019, and greeted his daughter Carol in heaven on her birthday. He was born on June 6, 1928 at home in rural Jeffers, Minnesota. Lloyd was the son of George and Emma (Wendland) Wolf. A lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Jeffers, he was baptized as an infant and confirmed in 1941. He received his education in rural Jeffers at District #45. Lloyd and Wyona Emma (Hansen) were united in marriage on April 11, 1950 at Johnsonville Lutheran Church in rural Lucan. In 1955, they moved onto their home place in Delton Township and farmed there until they moved into Jeffers in October 1996. In 2014 they moved to The Maples in Springfield where they were lovingly cared for in their new home. In his younger years, Lloyd hauled livestock for Storbeck Trucking and worked for local farmers. As a young farmer, Lloyd did custom corn shelling and combining for farmers in the area. He spent many long days and nights providing for his family. Even after moving into Jeffers, he continued to help his sons who carried on his love of the land. Lloyd and Wyona instilled in their six children the importance of family, the value of hard work and their love of the Lord. As a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers, Lloyd served on the church council. Lloyd always liked playing a good game of Pinochle or 500 with his family and neighbors. When they moved into town they continued to have a large garden which they shared with family and friends. Lloyd enjoyed the many days spent on the lake with his fishing partner, Wyona. He loved watching his favorite sports team, the Minnesota Twins and discussing current events. A lover of western novels, he collected over 1,000 books by various authors. His favorite author was Louis L'Amour of which he had the complete series. They spent 26 winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. A favorite past time was cracking black walnuts, up to hundreds of pounds a winter which he brought home for his family and friends to enjoy in baking. Lloyd was always ready with a smile and loved a good laugh with his family and friends. "Dad" especially treasured the blessing of traveling with "Mom" and spending time with family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wyona Wolf of Springfield; children, Kent (JoAnn) Wolf of Jordan; Deborah (Phillip) Batalden of Lamberton; Lynette (Curtis) Olson of Storden; Keith (Gayle) Wolf of Jeffers; and James Wolf (Carol Michel) of Jeffers; 17 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; two brothers, Elton (Millie) Wolf of Henning, MN and Gorden Wolf of Reno, NV; brother–in-law, Walden Crawford of Reno, NV; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carol Wold; grandson, Daniel Wold and an infant granddaughter, Tracy Batalden; brother, Romey Wolf; sisters, Jerada Lenzen, Lavida Crawford and Verdella Scharmann; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Stern, Ernest Lenzen, Edward Scharmann, Wendell Hansen and Berdeen Nelson; and sisters-in-law Levora Stern, Videll Nelson and Christiana Hansen.
