A Mass of Christian Burial for Lois Rasche, age 88, of Heron Lake, will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Heron Lake.

A visitation for Lois will be held on Tuesday, July 21st from 5:00 -7:00 PM at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, July 22nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake for one hour prior to the Funeral Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

Lois Marie (Haberman) Rasche was born at the Worthington Hospital on October 10, 1937, to William A. and Edna (Haberman) Haberman of Heron Lake, Minnesota. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake, where she remained a lifelong member. Throughout the years, Lois faithfully served her parish through Ladies Aid and by teaching religious education. She attended Heron Lake High School, graduating in 1955. One of the fond memories of her high school years was being crowned Homecoming Queen during her senior year. Following high school Lois attended McKennan School of Nursing, where she earned her nursing diploma.

Lois' kind, caring, and compassionate nature made nursing the perfect profession for her. She became a registered nurse and worked at the Heron Lake Hospital for many years. She later worked with Jackson and Cottonwood County Nursing Services, and Lakeview Nursing Home in Heron Lake, touching countless lives with her gentle care. In 1958, she married Robert Rasche. Although the marriage was later dissolved, Lois was deeply grateful for the four children born to their union: Kathryn, Steven, Mary Beth, and Lisa. Her greatest joy was her family, and she cherished every opportunity to love and encourage her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, faithfully supporting them in their many activities.

Lois was a hardworking woman who found joy in caring for others. She loved cooking and baking and was often found paging through recipe books in search of something new to try. Her cabbage rolls, kuchen, pies, and cookies became family favorites, and her home was always a welcoming place where family and friends gathered for meals, coffee, and homemade treats. Blessed with a green thumb, Lois loved growing plants, flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed preserving the harvest by canning fruits and vegetables, with homemade jam and tomato juice among her specialties. Her caring spirit extended beyond her own home as she lovingly knitted scarves that she donated to Mary Jo Copeland's Sharing and Caring Hands.

Traveling with her daughters brought Lois great happiness, and together they explored many places across the country, creating treasured memories along the way. She was also devoted to serving her community, volunteering with Meals on Wheels and the Heron Lake Food Shelf. Time spent with her friends at Birthday Club and playing Rummikub were other simple pleasures she always looked forward to.

On Monday, July 13, 2026, Lois entered eternal peace at Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, with her loving children by her side.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathryn Rasche of Bloomington, Steven (Jeanie) Rasche of Heron Lake, Mary Beth (Denny) Sullivan of Hudson, Wisconsin, and Lisa (Scott) Muller of Windom; eleven grandchildren, Lindsay Sullivan, Alexa (Anthony) Johnson, Jordan Muller, Steven Sullivan, Michaela (Mike) Walz, Paige (Anthony) De La Rosa, Travis (Jasmine) Muller, Maddie Rasche (Skylar Prochaska), Jacob (Hannah) Lundgren, Claire (Kale) Stieg, and Emma Rasche; twelve great-grandchildren; four siblings, Marlys (Jim) Broberg of Albert Lea, Marietta (Collin) Moriarty of Bloomington, Rebecca (Roger) Deuth of Victoria, and Mark (Kathi) Haberman of Heron Lake; her "grand dog," Kosmo, whom she affectionately called "Costco"; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Edna Haberman; her siblings, William J. Haberman, Catherine Haberman, and Richard Haberman; sister-in-law, Judy Haberman; and her brother-in-law, Terrance Moriarty.

Blessed be the memory of Lois Marie Rasche, whose gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew her. May the love she shared, the faith she lived, and the many memories she created bring comfort and peace to those who mourn her passing.
