Obituary

Lonny Vollan, age 48, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, Thursday, September 23, 2021, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Lonny was born on October 11, 1972, to Dennis and Deb Vollan in Windom, Minnesota; the oldest of three children. As a child, Lonny lived in Windom where he attended grade school, played baseball, basketball, and football. He graduated from Windom Area High School in the Class of 1991. On July 29, 1995, he married his wife, Lisa (Meyer) Vollan. They raised their family for 26 years in Windom, with their two daughters, Maitland and Kelsey. Lonny loved his "three girls" with all his heart. When he wasn't spending time with his family, you could catch him hunting, fishing, golfing, or enjoying time on the lake. One of his favorite things was spending weekends with his daughters on the lake listening to 80's rock music because in Lonny's eyes, "country doesn't play on the weekends". Lonny worked hard all his life. He went to MN West Community & Technical College, Granite Falls, for fluid power after high school. He worked at AGCO from 1995-2000, then at Higley Ford as a master technician from 2000-2017, followed by Fast Manufacturing from 2017-2019, and finally ended his career at Toro, working as a supervisor of assembly since 2020. Lonny loved serving the community and was a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Windom Fire Department for the past sixteen years. He was the First Assistant Fire Chief for the past three years. Lonny is survived by his wife, Lisa; his oldest daughter, Maitland Vollan Maras and her husband, Daniel Maras; his youngest daughter, Kelsey Vollan and Devin Nielsen; his mother, Deb Vollan and her husband, Brian Redding; his grandfather, Ray Wilson; his brother, Scott Vollan and Katie Elmer of Windom; sister Jodi Vollan and Ryan Sokolofsky of Bingham Lake; and father- and mother-in-law, Fred and Mary Meyer of Windom. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bonita "Bonnie" Ramsey Wilson and Floyd and Dorothy Vollan; and his father, Dennis Vollan. Please join the family in celebrating the life of Lonny Vollan, a loving husband, father, son, and brother. Blessed be the memory of Lonny Vollan.
