A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Loren Burmeister, age 64, of rural Windom will be held Friday, August 9th at 10:30 AM at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Lakefield with Pastor Dale Hedstrom officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in rural Lakefield.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Thursday, August 8th from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Lakefield. Visitation will continue Friday at the church for one hour prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed on the St. Peter Lutheran Church Facebook page.

Loren Albert Burmeister was born on November 12, 1959, to Albert and Marianne (Gott) Burmeister, in Lakefield, Minnesota. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, where he was baptized on November 29, 1959, and affirmed his baptism through confirmation on May 5, 1974. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Lakefield and graduated from Lakefield High School in the class of 1978.

On November 30, 1991, Loren was united in marriage to Shelley Lee Myers, and the couple was blessed with three children, Timothy, Thomas and Taylor. Loren was employed with The Toro Company for 36 years, where he worked on the line as a lead. He retired from The Toro Company on January 3, 2022. Loren also enjoyed working on the farm for Gary and Deb Bailey for many years.

In his free time, Loren enjoyed playing softball in his younger years and later enjoyed gardening. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved the great outdoors. Loren enjoyed raising and showing chickens at the county and state fairs with his three sons.

On August 5, 2024, Loren passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Left to cherish Loren's memory are his wife of 33 years, Shelley Burmeister of rural Windom; three children, Timothy Burmeister of Westbrook, Thomas (Ashley) Burmeister of Henning, and Taylor Burmeister of Lakefield; six grandchildren, Jalena, Aubri, Easton, Breckyn, Madeline, and Milo; mother, Marianne Burmeister of Lakefield; siblings, LaCinda (Wayne) Altman of Lime Springs, IA, Rhonda (Pat) Waddell of Fort Dodge, IA, Joel (Deb) Burmeister of Lakefield, Jerel Burmeister of Lakefield, Alan Burmeister of Little Falls, and Nichole (Scott) Kruse of Lakefield; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Loren was preceded in death by his father, Albert Burmeister.
