Lorene Mildred Anderson was born June 2, 1921 to Lars Peter and Helena B (Wiens) Anderson in Windom, MN at the home of her grandparents, Cornelius C. and Susanna (Baerg) Wiens. She was raised on the family farm in Christiania Township, Bergen, in Jackson County, MN. She attended Bergen country school. In 7th grade, Lorene decided to change her name to Lorraine. She was baptized at the Baptist Church of Windom in May 1939. Lorraine attended and graduated with honors from Windom High School on June 2, 1939. On February 3, 1941, she married Owen Finstad. Together they had 5 children: Larry, Judy & Ron (twins), Travis, and Marsha. They farmed near Bergen until 1959, when they moved to Windom. Lorraine worked at Toro Mfg in Windom for 21 years (1964 - 1985). Owen passed away on July 16, 1981. In August 1985 she married Leroy "Bud" Tuffs and moved to Deer Creek, MN. She resided there until 1997 when they moved to a home on Rush Lake. Bud passed away in 2003 and Lorraine remained at Rush Lake until 2008, when she returned to her home on River Road in Windom, after being diagnosed with CBGD (Corticobasal Ganglionic Degeneration). In 2010, Lorraine moved to Good Samaritan Society-Sogge where she lived until passing away at the age of 93. She was active in the churches that she attended: Bethany Lutheran – Bergen, American Lutheran – Windom, Methodist – Deer Creek, and Calvary Lutheran – Perham. Lorraine had many enjoyments in life including her quilting club at church, Ladies Aid, watching her beloved Minnesota Twins baseball, participating in American Cancer Society's Relay for Life (30 year survivor), working in her flower gardens, living on a lake, pontoon rides, fishing, and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren and other beloved family members and friends. She is survived by her three children, Ron (Carol) of Wilton, WI; Travis (Madaly "Doli") of Plymouth, MN and Marsha (Mark) Humphreys of Rapid City, SD; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, many other loved step-relatives, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Owen Finstad and Leroy Tuffs; sister, Christina Snook; son, Larry Finstad; daughter, Judy Finstad Payne; grandson, Jason Finstad and granddaughter, Renee Finstad.
