A Celebration of Life Service for Louise Olson, age 95, of Windom, will be held on Friday, June 23rd at 11:00 AM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom, with Pastor Marlin Mohrman officiating. Burial will follow at Amo Lutheran Cemetery in rural Storden.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held Friday, June 23rd from 10:00-11:00 AM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom.

Louise (Mosman) Olson was born on June 23, 1927, to the late Byron and Albina (Moreviska) Mosman, in San Francisco, California. Her early school years began in San Francisco, and she could recall starting school within walking distance of their small home. They lived in Daily City for 7 ½ years, while her dad worked as a carpenter and construction worker on the Oakland Bay Bridge.

In November 1934, she moved with her family, by train, to Westbrook, Minnesota to live with her newly widowed grandmother, Mary Moraviska. She graduated from Westbrook High School, and while in school, she worked as a secretary to Mr. Eckert, a local realtor. After graduation, she went to Minneapolis Asbury Hospital to study nursing and worked in the hospital nursery. When the hospital closed a few years later, she returned to Westbrook and worked in the local bank for Mr. Klasse.

In 1949, Louise married Amos Olson, and the couple purchased a two-room schoolhouse from Storden District 24 and moved it to their new family farm. They made a home on a farm 11 miles south of Storden on County Road 5. They did much of the construction on their home themselves, living in the basement for 2 years while remodeling the school into their new home. Louise was always proud to have cabinetry hand made by her father. Louise continued her dad's love of carpentry, adding her expert finishes throughout her home.

Louise and Amos had two daughters, Jane and Sharon. Louise was very active in the lives of her children. After Jane married, Louise enjoyed traveling with Jane's family. Jane's husband, Jerry, was a career military officer, and the family often relocated. Louise was an indispensable part of each move. The military took Jane's family, and Louise, to places across the country, including Massachusetts, Florida, Arizona and places in between. Sharon and her husband left Minnesota and travelled due west, to first live in Idaho and then settled in Washington. In her trips to her daughters' families, Louise was able to visit nearly every state in the union. She took special joy in her 5 grandchildren, Lee Ann, Adrian, Becky, Beck and Grant.

Louise was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Windom. Annually, she helped cook at the Baptist Bible Camp at Lake Shetek. She was a Girl Scout leader. She also acted as an Extension leader for Springfield Township and loved to help others, using her expert sewing skills to make, build, and remodel anything.

Amos passed away in 1992, but Louise remained on the homestead, with her independent spirit, managing the farm for 30 years. In 2020, she moved to Windom to live with Jane.

On December 4th, under Hospice care, Louise passed away peacefully with her family by her side, in her home in Windom.

Louise is survived by her daughters, Jane (Jerry) Tilton of Windom and Sharon (Bill Luchansky) Olson of Olympia, Washington; 5 grandchildren, LeAnn, Becky, Adrian, Beck, and Grant; and her brother, Howard Mosman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Olson; and her parents.
