Lowell Milton Lyons was born on March 28, 1926, at his home in Southbrook Township, Cottonwood County, MN to the parents Henry C. and Bessie (Christensen) Lyons. He was baptized and confirmed at the First United Methodist Church in Windom, MN. He attended country school near Windom. Lowell enlisted in the United States Army on November 28, 1944 and was honorably discharged on August 10, 1946. On March 7, 1951 Lowell was united in marriage to Eleanor Fluegel at the Salvation Army Church in Fairmont, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with four children, Julie, Kenneth, Gordy and Bruce. Lowell and Eleanor lived outside of Windom where Lowell farmed. He also worked in construction as a cabinet maker. In October of 2013, Lowell and Eleanor moved into Mikkelson Manor. In November of 2013 they moved into the Good Samaritan Society -Sogge Memorial in Windom. Lowell passed away at the Good Samaritan Society - Sogge Memorial on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the age of 88. Lowell was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom. He enjoyed hunting, farming, fishing, woodworking, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lowell will be remembered as a good mechanic, being protective, dependable and helping everyone in whatever way he could. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Lyons of Windom; three children, Julie Crowell and her husband, Leon, of Windom; Gordy Lyons and his wife, Tracy, of Corcoran, MN; and Bruce Lyons and his wife, Yadi, of Spirit Lake, IA; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Bud Lyons and his wife, Shirley, of Windom; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Lyons; and one sister, Orel (Lyons) Swenson. Blessed be the memory of Lowell Lyons.
