She was the daughter of William August and Lillian Agnes (Stark) Krueger and was born in Springfield on August 20, 1930, at St John's Hospital, Springfield, in Brown County, Minnesota. She was baptized on September 14, 1930 in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield, Minnesota and later confirmed in that same church on April 2, 1944. She went to District 65 country school thru grade six and then attended Springfield High School through 1946. Was a rural resident of Springfield until 1948 and lived one month at 111 North Park Avenue with her parents in their new home in Springfield prior to her marriage. On April 2, 1948, Lucille was united in marriage to Delbert Carl Polzin by Rev. Max von Fischer at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield, Minnesota. They met December of 1946 and were engaged on February 2, 1947. They rented and lived on the McCauley farm six miles east of Jeffers, Minnesota, and farmed from 1946-1975 in Delton Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota and helped Delbert's brothers farm on several different farms also. They were blessed with six children. They attended Christ Lutheran Church in Stately Twp. west of Comfrey, were she taught Bible School and was active in the Ladies Aid. Lucille and Delbert moved to 804-17th St, Windom on November 1st, 1975. They then worked helping the Citizen Publishing Company on Saturdays for twenty-seven years (until February 2008) delivering the Shopper; making 208 miles to many towns and doing advertisement cutout each Saturday, cleaning the Windom Farm Credit building and kept the lawn mowed for twenty years. They also cleaned the Federal Land Bank and Windom Farm Service, Plum Creek Food Co-op, PCA, Farm Credit and American Family together every week. Lucille worked as a cook two years at the Windom High School. Delbert died at the Good Samaritan Society-The Village in Mt. Lake on February 8, 2008. In November of 2015, Lucille moved to the Pine View Assisted Living, Windom. Lucille was a longtime, dedicated member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom where she was president of Altar Guild and member of WELCA. She was very faithful to the women's group at her church, assisted with quilting for charities, provided cakes and "Jello" for many funerals, and helped serve lunches over the years. She also enjoyed playing cards and was in several card clubs (Windom Interlochen Club and Marathon 500). Her yard was covered with many beautiful flowers and had been a member of a flower (garden) club over the years. From the produce of her garden, Lucille did lots of canning - especially pickles. She loved to bake Bread, Buns, Coffee Cake, and Cookies. The Polzin's enjoyed visitors and liked to entertain with games of cards, and Lucille always served "a little lunch," that included sandwiches and pickles. Her community spirit showed in the many scrapbooks she made. She clipped news stories and pictures from local newspapers - birth announcements, weddings, obituaries and human-interest stories - and saved them in scrapbooks with other memorabilia.
