Luther "Lu"
Glaser
Feb 2, 1937 — May 1, 2025
A Celebration of Life service to honor the life and legacy of Luther Glaser, age 88, of Inver Grove Heights, formerly of Lakefield, will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rost Township on Tuesday, May 20th at 1:00 PM, with a time of visitation and gathering from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Rost Township with full military honors to be provided by the Sievert-Peterson American Legion Post #608 of Okabena.
Luther "Lu" Fredrick Glaser was born on February 2, 1937, in Jackson County, Minnesota, to Alvin and Hulda (Milbrath) Glaser. A lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rost Township, he was baptized and confirmed in his faith. He attended parochial school before graduating from Okabena High School in 1954 and later served honorably in the United States National Guard.
On July 25, 1964, Luther married his beloved sweetheart, Leona Roduner, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Together, they built a life in Lakefield, Minnesota, raising three children—LuAnn, Leslie, and Lance—and welcomed two cherished grandchildren, Conner and Kalea.
Luther dedicated his career to service, first working as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Insurance before accepting the role of Deputy County Auditor of Jackson County in 1968. In 1972, he became Jackson County Auditor, a position he held with integrity until his retirement in 1997.
Faith and music were central to Luther's life. He was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving as an elder and treasurer, and his voice enriched the Men's Choir. His passion for singing extended beyond the church, as he was also a proud member of the barbershop quartet The Fore-Tunes.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Luther found joy in watching games, golfing, and, in his younger years, playing basketball and softball. He also had a gift for cooking and baking, and his love for ice cream was unmatched. Above all, Luther will be remembered for his quick wit, warm sense of humor, and the countless ways he brightened the lives of those around him.
In 2023, Luther and Leona moved to Inver Glen Senior Living in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. On May 1, 2025, Luther passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith at the age of 88 years.
Luther is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Leona Glaser of Inver Grove Heights; children, LuAnn Glaser of Shoreview, Leslie Glaser of Fairmont, and Lance (Amy) Glaser of Eagan; grandchildren, Conner (Rachel) Glaser of Eagan and Kalea Glaser of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Gerri Onischuk of Oakdale; sisters-in-law, Mary Grandon of Eagan, Arlena Hauck of Marion, SD, and Luella Teveldal of Wessington Springs, SD; brother-in-law, Lyle Pawlowski of Wessington Springs, SD; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Hulda Glaser; brothers, Len (Hazel) Glaser, Larry (Dorothy) Glaser, Ed (Marless) Glaser, and Mick Glaser; sisters, Peg (Bill) Orem and Gene (Robert) Saylor; parents-in-law, Carl and Maggie Roduner; brothers-in-law, Bill Onischuk, Ray (Doris) Roduner, Melvin (Evelyn) Roduner, Leonard Teveldal, and Alfred Hauck; sister-in-law, Lenora Pawlowski.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given in Luther's name to St. Paul Lutheran Church (Rost) in Lakefield, MN.
