A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Mackenzie Moss, age 24, of Spirit Lake, IA, formerly of Jackson, will be held on Wednesday, July 30th at 10:30 AM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson. The burial will be in held in the Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan, MN.

A visitation for Mackenzie will be held on Tuesday, July 29th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, July 30th at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson for one hour prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. The service will be livestreamed on the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center Facebook page.

Mackenzie "Kenzie" Emilie Moss was born on December 26, 2000, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, to Tom Moss and Heidi (Bohnsack) Turner. From the very beginning, Kenzie radiated warmth and kindness. With a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room, she had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen and loved. She was deeply compassionate, always putting others first, and made everyone feel welcome with her warm hugs and easy conversation.

Kenzie embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. She proudly wore a tattoo and necklace that read "unconditional," a reflection of the way she loved fully and without limits. She had a sharp mind, a hunger for learning, and a natural ability to understand new things with ease.

Raised in Jackson, Minnesota, Kenzie spent her early years in the countryside before moving into town. She attended Riverside Elementary and graduated from Jackson County Central High School in 2019. During her school years, she was a standout on the softball field as both a catcher and outfielder and was actively involved in FFA. She also enjoyed Taekwondo, and her dedication earned her a 3rd degree junior black belt.

Kenzie's faith was an important part of her life. Baptized as an infant and later confirmed, her spiritual journey deepened through Eagle Brook Church, where a powerful sermon by Pastor Bob Merritt left a lasting impact on her heart. She later reaffirmed her beliefs through adult baptism. A treasured memory was when Pastor Merritt, learning how profoundly he had touched her life, made a special visit to meet her in person at her workplace.

At just 14, Kenzie began working as a hostess at Bracco, a seasonal restaurant on East Lake Okoboji. Her dedication and work ethic saw her rise to become the front-house manager, where she became known for her long hours, strong leadership, and unmatched service. In November 2024, she joined the team at Kwik Star in Spirit Lake, where she continued to shine with her warm personality and love for connecting with people.

Kenzie was a proud and passionate Minnesota Vikings fan, always decked out in purple and gold on game days. She had an incredible memory for sports statistics and a deep love for the game. Beyond sports, she found joy and comfort in spending time with her friends, family, and her two cats, Lulu and Malibu. Her love for her nephews, Rhett and Reid, was immeasurable. Kenzie was at her sister's side when the boys were born early and played a constant and loving role in their lives. The boys lit up whenever she entered the room.

Affectionately known by some as the "Snapchat Queen," Kenzie had an eye for capturing life's beautiful moments, especially sunsets over the lake she loved. Kenzie dreamed of moving to Sioux Falls and returning to school to study radiology. Tragically, her life was cut short on July 23, 2025, but the impact she made on others will live on forever.

She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Heidi (Tom) Turner of Fort Worth, TX, and Tom (Shela) Moss of Creston, IA; her siblings, Moriah (John) Kieper of Jackson, MN, Kori (Chad) Wellendorf of Milford, IA, and Kayce (John) Shockley of Isanti, MN; stepsisters, Molly (Blaise) Herring of Phoenix, AZ, and Abagail Turner of Omaha, NE; her beloved nephews, Rhett, Reid, Zak, and Devin; nieces, Ryanna and Kaylee, and one more on the way; grandparents, Milan and Donna Bohnsack of Jordan, MN; her best friend, Samara Strom of Sioux Falls, SD; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tom and Trava Moss.
