Margaret Isabell Larsen was born on December 22, 1931 in Bagley, Iowa to the late R. Glenn and Blossom (Walker) McCall. She attended elementary school in Bagley, Iowa until 1943, and then attended Guthrie Center High School in Iowa, graduating in the Class of 1949. She attended the University of Iowa in 1951 and 1952. Margaret worked for the Guthrie Center Bank and the Iowa State Bank.
On May 18, 1952, Margaret was united in marriage to Donald J Larsen. Margaret was baptized in 1952 in Guthrie Center. Margaret and Donald moved to rural Heron Lake and began farming. She was confirmed in 1953 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden. The marriage was blessed with four children, Jim, Alan, Carol and Mark, fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Donald passed away on September 8, 2012 at his home in Windom.
Margaret was an active member at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden for thirty-five years and was a Sunday School teacher, church council member and Bible School teacher. She was a member of the Cottonwood County Cattlewomen, serving as president and treasurer, and a member of the Extension Investment Club. Margaret also enjoyed her many years of motorcycling with Don and avoiding the cold Minnesota winters in warm Arizona.
Margaret is survived by her four children, Jim (Torasie) Larsen of New London, MN; Alan (Mary) Larsen of Spicer, MN; Carol (Brent) Rosenbrook of Sioux Falls, SD; and Mark (Carmen) Larsen of Knoxville, TN; fourteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Meredith McCall of Colorado Springs, CO; Melinda Davis of San Gabriel, CA; one brother-in-law, Dean Larsen of Bella Vista, AR; Gina Hauge, loving caregiver, helper and companion when either of them needed to talk or just have fun at the end of the day.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; one great granddaughter, Ella Marie Larson; two brothers-in-law, Arlo Larsen and Robert Davis; and two sisters-in-law, Arlene Hildreth and Dorothy Extein.
