Margo J. Torkelson was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on August 14, 1945, to the late Maynard and Mildred (Fossen) Dubbs. Her family moved to Rushford, Minnesota when Margo was an infant. She was baptized and later confirmed on May 6, 1960, at the Rushford Lutheran Church. Margo attended Rushford Public Schools and was selected to Girl's State, was an excellent student, involved in many school activities and anything she did, she did well. Margo graduated from Rushford High School in the Class of 1963. On May 6, 1975, Margo was united in marriage to Ron Torkelson. The couple spent their married years living in Windom and Storden. Through the years, Margo worked for the State Bank of Rushford, Messer Machine and Manufacturing, Higley Ford, Zieske Land Surveying and for short time, for Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She will be remembered as a good cook and a special friend to many. She enjoyed crafting projects, was an avid reader and said, "If you like to read, you will never be lonely", enjoyed sporting activities which included, football, basketball, golf, and horseback riding. Margo was a good golfer who always played barefoot. Sewing and knitting where also past times she enjoyed. Recently, Margo's health began to decline, and she was hospitalized at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she passed away peacefully with Ron and Mia by her side, on Sunday morning, February 20, 2022, at the age of 76 years. Margo is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ron Torkelson of Windom; daughter, Mia (Mike) Kruse of Bloomington; 3 stepsons, Tim (Stephanie) Torkelson of Rochester; Joe (Jodie) Torkelson of Pine Island; Tom (DuRonda) Torkelson of Rochester; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
