Marian Thompson was born on March 31, 1931 to the late Roy P. and Mamie A. (Becker) Thompson in Minneapolis, MN. Marian has lived at a variety of State Hospitals in Minnesota including, Faribault, Cambridge, Rochester, Hastings, Anoka and St. Peter. Marian also lived in a nursing home setting in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. She moved to REM - Pillsbury in Minneapolis, MN, from 1987-1998. In June of 1998 Marian moved to REM Southwest Services in Tyler, MN, until July of 2009. At that time due to some health concerns she lived for a short time at the nursing home in Ivanhoe, MN, until September 2009. In September of 2009, Marian moved to Home for Creative Living in Windom, MN, and lived there until passing away peacefully with loving staff beside her on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Marian worked at the Tyler DAC from June 1998- September 2008. She retired from the Tyler DAC in September of 2008. As a child, Marian enjoyed baseball, collecting shells and butterflies. As a young adult, Marian expressed a vocational interest in art and design. Later in life, Marian loved to color, and watch her favorite TV show which was the Golden Girls. She found great enjoyment working on jigsaw puzzles and felt pampered whenever she got her nails done. She especially treasured her visits with her sister Shirley Thompson, of Medford, MN, who is her only living relative. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mamie.
