A Celebration of Life Service for Marilyn Bauer, age 92, of Lakefield, will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Lakefield on Saturday, January 24th at 11:00 AM, with a time of visitation and gathering for two hours prior to the service. Burial will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Marilyn Janice (Reimers) Bauer was born on January 25, 1933, at home on their farm in Jackson County to Ernest and Mabel (Roarson) Reimers. She attended country school until she moved to Lake Park in 8th grade. When she was a junior in high school she moved to Sioux Valley where she graduated in 1951.

On May 4, 1952, Marilyn married Richard Bauer at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley. They farmed together for over 40 years until Rich's accident. They loved to play cards at family gatherings and with their friends. They danced the night away at the Sioux Valley Log Cabin many a night. Marilyn was an avid reader- history being her favorite genre. She enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing vegetables, golfing, sudoku puzzles and antiquing, where she searched for Bauer Pottery. She always said her favorite job was rendering lard. She was at talented seamstress, which evolved into quilting. Each of her grandchildren- on their weddings- were gifted one of her quilts to cherish. Marilyn was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she taught Release Time, altered Confirmation gowns, was active in Ladies Aid, quilting and serving at funerals.

Marilyn and Rich visited New Orleans, Texas, Hawaii, California, Alaska, Russia, and Las Vegas. Following Rich's accident, she traveled with her sister, Karen. They saw both coasts as well as several spots in between.

She lived on their farm east of Lakefield until Rich's accident when she moved to town to be near him. She was at his side every day. She moved to Valley View in 2020 following a fall with a broken hip. She passed away at Sanford Hospice Cottage in Worthington on December 24, 2025, at the age of 92 years and 11 months. Marilyn loved her family. She loved her friends. She always had a positive attitude and saw the best in everyone and every situation.

Marilyn Bauer passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24th at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington.

Left to cherish her memory are her 2 children: David (LeeAnn) Bauer of Lakefield and Linda Cory of Hudson, WI. Her grandchildren: Alison (Jeff) Simison, of New Richmond, WI; Alanna (Michael) McNamara of New Richmond, WI; Chris (Jocelyn) Bauer of Lakefield; Kelsey (Andy) McNair of Elk River, MN; and Alyssa (Joe) Kruschke of Glenwood City, WI. Her 9 great-grandchildren: Carter and Clara Simison, Evan and Lila McNamara, Jillian and Hatty Bauer, Cullen McNair, Harrison and Jameson Kruschke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard Bauer, her parents, Ernest and Mabel Reimers, her sisters Ardis Liddle and Karen Ahrenstorff and son-in-law Stan Cory.
