A Celebration of Life service to honor the life and legacy of Marilyn Sell, age 85, of Windom, will be held at the American Lutheran Church of Windom on Saturday, July 19th at 10:30 AM, with a time of visitation and gathering from 9:30-10:30 AM. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Windom.

The service will be livestreamed on the American Lutheran Church Facebook page and YouTube Channel.

Marilyn Jane Sell was born on February 12, 1940, to Bernard and Jennie (Solem) Lund at her grandparents' farmhouse in Springfield Township, MN. She was baptized on June 2, 1940, and confirmed on May 29, 1955, at the American Lutheran Church in Windom.

Marilyn began first grade in the same one-room schoolhouse where her mother had once taught. She later moved with her family to Wilder in 1947. Marilyn graduated from Windom High School in 1958 and went on to attend Minneapolis Business School, where she studied to become a stenographer and executive secretary.

In September 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, LaVerne Sell. They settled in Windom and raised three daughters: Laurene, Jodene, and Julene.

Marilyn worked for the Peter J. Schweitzer Company (later part of Kimberly-Clark) for 381⁄2 years, starting in Windom and later relocating to Grand Forks, Fargo, and Winkler, Manitoba, before retiring in 1998.

After retiring, LaVerne and Marilyn purchased a home on Lake Belle Taine, nestled between Nevis and Park Rapids. They also bought a mobile home on Lake of the Woods, where they spent many summers fishing together. In 2001, they purchased a home in Tucson, Arizona. In 2008, they returned to live in Windom.

Marilyn loved spending time with friends playing cards—especially bridge and duplicate bridge in Arizona. She enjoyed fishing for walleye on Lake of the Woods, playing bocce ball, and traveling. She always looked forward to "Coffee Gals" time on Mondays and Thursdays, as well as the annual trip with the "Golden Girls." Above all, Marilyn treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren and great-grand children, whose laughter and love were one of the greatest joys in her life.

Marilyn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025 at Cannon Rivers senior Living in Cannon Falls.

Marilyn is survived by LaVerne, her loving husband of 65 years; daughters: Laurie (Joel) Bringle, Jodie (Joe) Torkelson, and Julie (Steve) Audette; seven grandchildren: Cassie Jo (Mike) Thornton, Joshua (Brooke) Torkelson, Branden Audette, Tyler Audette, Kristen Audette, Ashley Bringle and Jackson Bringle; three great-grandchildren: Elliot Thornton, Eleanor Thornton, and Bennett Torkelson; sister, Louetta Masters; brother, Wayne Lund; and sister-in-law, Jean Potter.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law: Joan Engler, Irene Wahl, Leora Cole, Rita Sell; brothers-in-law: Orvis Sell, Roger Masters, Phil Potter, Gene Cole, Rodney Wahl and Gene Engler.
