Marjorie Ella Halter was born May 12, 1937, to Joseph and Verona (Grieger) Halter in the northwest bedroom of the family farmhouse in Highwater Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. She was baptized on July 5, 1937, and confirmed her faith on June 1, 1952, at Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton. Margie attended District 28 Country School in Highwater Township and graduated from Lamberton High School on June 3, 1955. Margie married Wallace Krause on September 28, 1957, at Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton and they made their home in Germantown Township, where they farmed. While living at this farm, their three children, Bruce, David and Barbara were born. In 1966 they moved to the Krause Family farmstead on the other side of the section. She lived there until she moved to St. Peter in 2016, where she lived until passing away at home on September 21, 2020, at 83 years of age. Margie always cheered on her children and grandchildren, from chaperoning school parties and field trips to attending concerts, plays, and sporting events, wherever those took her. Church and community were also very important to Margie. Alongside Wally, she served Trinity Lutheran Church of Jeffers as Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent, and the Centennial Anniversary Committee. She was also involved in Circle and was one of the long-time "Church Basement Ladies" as Co-Chair of the Funeral Committee. She was the world's best cook and loved to entertain. Up until her final days there were always freshly baked cookies and other treats in her cupboard, just in case she got "company." Margie survived ovarian cancer in the 1980s and was proud to be named a Cottonwood County Relay for Life Honorary Chair in 2006. Margie's work history included time as secretary at Interstate Power in Lamberton before she married. After raising their children, she returned to the workforce at Meta's City Cafe in Jeffers before switching to Valley View Nursing Home in Lamberton, where she worked in the Activities and Laundry Departments. Margie is survived by her children: Bruce (Randy Reetz) of Maplewood, David (Carolyn) of Mankato, and Barbara (Tim) Regner of St. Peter; five grandchildren: Joe (Marie) Krause, Zach Krause, Elizabeth Krause, Luke Regner and Andy Regner; great-grandchildren, Henry, George and Thea Krause; brother Harlan (Vonnie) Halter of Lamberton; sister-in-law Darlene Krause of Jeffers; one niece and three nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wally, and her parents. Blessed be the memory of Margie Krause.
