Obituary

A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life of Marjorie Wiese, age 99, of Sherburn, formerly of Lakefield, will be held at Lakefield Methodist Church in Lakefield, on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 1 PM with a time of visitation and gathering for one hour prior to the service.

Marjorie Bertha Sargent was born on October 18, 1926, in Red Wing, Minnesota, to Lee and Ella (Peterson) Sargent. She was baptized and later confirmed in the Methodist faith. She attended high school in Red Wing, Minnesota, and graduated in 1944. Marjorie continued her education at Hamline University, where she graduated in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. She met her future husband while at Hamline. Following graduation, she worked at General Mills in a product research lab until her marriage.

On April 21, 1951, Marjorie was united in marriage to Fred Wiese. They made their home in Lakefield where they raised their children, John and Jane. She and Fred were very active in the Lakefield United Methodist Church, where they taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Marge was a member of the Jackson chapter of AAUW, an organization she was proud to be involved with. She also provided bookkeeping support for Wiese Electric in Lakefield.

Marjorie enjoyed gardening, tending flowers and vegetables, and her favorite raspberry patch. She and Fred were collectors of Red Wing Stoneware and pottery. She participated in a bridge club where she enjoyed the friendships and fellowship they brought. Above all, Marjorie loved family gatherings and special meals around the dining room table. She was happiest when in the company of her grandchildren.

Marjorie passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn.

She is survived by her son, John (Junell) Wiese; daughter, Jane (Steve) Teney; four grandchildren, Andrew Wiese, Laura (Derek) Sorenson, Alexander Teney, Christopher Teney; two great grandchildren, Lochlan Sorenson, Isla Sorenson, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Fred; parents Lee and Ella Sargent; brothers Walter and Charles Sargent; sisters Jean Birkett and Marian DeYoe; and sister-in-law Gretta (Wiese) Emmerich.

Blessed be the memory of Marjorie Wiese.
