Marvin Walter Bretzman was born April 6, 1934 in Lakefield, Minnesota to Walter and Leona (Siemers) Bretzman. He was later baptized in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran church in Delafield Township. Marvin attended the Delafield Parochial School.
Marvin farmed from the time he was 16 until he was 26 years old. Marvin enlisted in the Army in 1954 until he was honorably discharged in 1959. After returning to the farm near Lakefield, Marvin started to work at Caldwell Packing in Windom and ended up working there for 33 years. He also worked for the City of Bingham Lake for over 40 years.
On December 17, 1960 Marvin married the love of his life Sharon Ray. They were married at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Windom, MN. The union blessed them with four children: Brenda, Bradley, Eric and Kris.
For the City of Bingham Lake Marvin served as the Mayor, Councilman, groundskeeper and on the Bingham Lake Fire Department. Marvin was also a member of Pheasants Forever.
Marvin loved gardening, mowing lawns and spending time with his family. His chicken on the grill will never be matched.
On April 10, 2020 Marvin passed away at Windom Area Health.
Marvin will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sharon of Bingham Lake; their sons Eric (Dawn) Bretzman of Eagle Lake, Bradley (Sandy) Bretzman of Windom and daughters Brenda (Jim) Polk of Storden, and Kris(Todd) Giese of Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; brother, Jim(Jane) Bretzman of Lakefield; sisters, Florence Richter of Windom, Darlene (Leslie) Gunther of Round Lake, Lois Kraft of Windom, Jan (Verlin) Christians of Minneapolis, Mary (Mark) Voss of Fulda; many nieces & nephews, cousins and their descendants, friends and neighbors.
Preceding Marvin in death are his parents, Walter and Leona and his brothers Ray and John.
