A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Jo Christopherson, age 88, of Lakefield, will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 19th, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakefield with Father Dharma Pasala officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Lakefield.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday, April 19th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lakefield.

Mary Josephine (Van Moer) Christopherson, age 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Foxdale Assisted Living in Waseca, MN.

She was born on July 24, 1935, to Joseph and Helen (Polaschek) Van Moer and was the oldest daughter of six siblings. She grew up on the family farm near Amiret, MN, and she graduated from Tracy High School. Shortly after graduation, she married Robert Christopherson on August 8, 1953.

Bob and Mary Jo lived in the Marshall, MN area and in 1966, they moved the family to Lakefield, MN. During Mary Jo's working career, she worked at various law and insurance offices. She was very active in her community and volunteered at the library, school, and church. Mary Jo loved visiting and spending time with her kids, grandchildren, extended family, and circle of friends in Lakefield. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed taking care of her home and family.

Mary Jo was an avid reader, bird watcher and gardener. Her happy place was sitting on her back deck, reading a book, looking at her gardens and listening to the birds. Wrens and cardinals were her favorites.

Mary Jo was loved immensely, and she will be missed and remembered by her children, Bob Christopherson Jr. of Windom, Cheryl Milbrath (Rick Glaze) of Waseca, Karen (Brian) Ewertz of Strasburg, CO, and Maria Cone of St. Louis Park; six grandchildren, Kate (Jason) Kupcho, Abigail Milbrath Gibson, Shelby (Ryan) Treleven, Jonathan Ewertz, Sara Ewertz, and Grace Cone; eleven great-grandchildren, Justine, Jordan, Josclyn, Zoey, Kayden, Veyda, Jack, Matthew, Courtney, Vito and Adeline; one great-great granddaughter, Brielle; siblings, Dorothy (Tom) Wilson, Joseph "Buzzy" Van More, and Barbara Welch; sister-in-law, Louise Van Moer; brother-in-law, Ron (Sue) Christopherson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Christopherson; son, Paul A. Christopherson; sons-in-law, Michael Milbrath and Rick Cone; grandson, Jason R. Christopherson; parents, Joe and Helen Van Moer; siblings, Bernard Van Moer, Frances (Jay) Forsman, Rose Van Moer; sister-in-law, Carole (Charlie) Louwagie.
