Maxine Helen (Bayliss) Frank was born on December 5, 1928, in Carroll, Iowa, to Jesse Harold and Charlotte (Hannasch) Bayliss. She grew up in Carroll, where she attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic School, St. Angela Girls Academy, and Carroll High School. Following her education, Maxine began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone of Iowa.

On May 3, 1949, Maxine was united in marriage to Donald J. Frank at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Carroll. The marriage was blessed with four children: Alan, Kent, Linda and Gail. In 1955, Maxine and Don moved to Windom, where they farmed for many years until their retirement. After raising their children, Maxine became the first female EMT with the Windom Ambulance Service, and she faithfully served the community for more than 20 years.

A devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Maxine belonged to the Windom Council of Catholic Women. Blessed with the gift of music, she served as a soloist and cantor for many years, sharing her faith through song. She also gave generously of her time as an election judge in Windom, volunteered with Compassionate Care of Worthington, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Windom. Maxine also enjoyed the performing arts and proudly took the lead role in three musical productions in Windom, including The Music Man and Oklahoma.

On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, she was called Home to the Lord while surrounded by her family at her residence in Windom.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Alan D. Frank of Fergus Falls, Kent Frank of Windom, and Linda Unger of Windom; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one brother, John "Jack" (Francoise) Bayliss of Kansas City, MO; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Charlotte Bayliss; husband, Donald Frank; daughter, Gail Barlow; grandson, Michael Unger; daughters-in-law, Judy Frank and Barb Frank; and brother, Donald Bayliss.
