A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Melvin Forseth, age 72, of Storden, will be held Tuesday, July 16th at 11:00 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden with Pastor Steve Bliss officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Storden.
A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Monday, July 15th from 5:00 ~ 7:00 p.m. at the Storden Community Center. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden for one hour prior to the service.
Melvin Hans Forseth was born on May 4, 1952, to Irwin and Dorothy (Gould) Forseth in Hendricks, Minnesota. He attended Hendricks Public Schools and graduated in the class of 1970. Melvin then continued his education at Canby Vo-Tech College where he received his degree in diesel mechanics.
He was baptized in the Christian faith as a newborn and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden. Melvin was very involved with the church by being on the church council and serving as an usher.
Melvin was a mechanic for over 40 years. He worked at Storden Farm Services, Darfur Implement in Windom, Miller Sellner in Bingham Lake, Mels Repair in Storden and for the City of Storden. He retired in 2015.
Melvin was the Mayor of Storden for 4 years. He also served on the Storden Fire Department and First Responders for over 25 years.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, collecting farm toys, tinkering with projects, cooking, baking and most of all socializing with family and friends.
Melvin Forseth passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8th at Sanford Westbrook Medical Center in Westbrook, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irwin and Dorothy Forseth; brother-in-law, Vernon Forsch; infant niece, Vicky Forsch; and niece, Jessica McCandless.
Melvin is survived by his son, Derrick (Kayla) Forseth of Belview; grandchildren, Cheyanne (Beau) Sands, Hailey Forseth, Bryton Forseth, Bella Forseth, Mason Neuman, and Autumn Neuman; great grandchildren, Cooper, Evelyn, and Vivian Sands; sisters, Doris (Richard) Nolan of Plainwell, MI, Irene Forsch of Sioux Falls, SD, Donna (Lee) Crooks of Astoria, SD; brothers, Duane (Susan) Forseth of Sioux Falls, SD, and Larry (Holly) Forseth of Hendricks, MN.
