Obituary

Grandpa Milford "Slim" Sinnamon was born on August 9, 1929 to the late Howard and Ellen Lucinda (Sumner) Sinnamon in Jeffers, Minnesota. Slim served in the United States Army in Japan when he was 17 years old; his mom had to sign for him as he was to young. He was in the Army for three years until being honorably discharged and was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds and then in Japan-there he was with the 1st Calvary Grave Registration and War Crime Trials. On July 19, 1952, Milford was united in marriage to Ruth Myers. This marriage was blessed with five children. Through the years, Milford worked for Lyle Sargent and Walt Quade doing carpentry work. He then moved his family to Windom where he worked at TORO for 38 years as a millwright until retiring at 62. When TORO went on strike, he worked for Harvestor, Inc. where he built silos. For many years, Slim had an engine repair shop out of his garage and was currently working for the City of Jeffers issuing permits. Milford had his right hand severed when he fell down a snowbank carrying an air compressor. Dr. Lamarka from Lakefield did the surgery at the Lakefield Hospital as we lived on a farm site west of Lakefield. Slim did not work for a year and the family refers to Slim's hand as "God's Hand" because he could have lost it. Recently, Slim's health began to decline and he was taken to the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he passed away on September 11, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Slim was a longtime member of the Jeffers United Methodist Church where he ushered, sang in the choir and served on several different boards. He was also a longtime, dedicated member of the Odegaard-Quade American Legion Post #401 in Jeffers where he was a commander for many years. He also was a member of the Jeffers Lions Club where he was president and designed their pin. Milford had many enjoyments in his life which included his dog "Jake" fishing, hunting, drawing and painting in his earlier years, building model airplanes and collecting Avon mugs. Slim's grateful family includes his wife of 67 years, Ruth Sinnamon of Jeffers; three children, Wendy (Jim) Pratt of Duncan, OK; Howard Ray Sinnamon of Maple Lake; Patricia Ann Dailey (William) of Henderson, NV; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Milford is preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Kim and Jerry Sinnamon. Blessed be the memory of Milford "Slim" Sinnamon.
