Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson.

Millicent "Millie" Kay Swanson was born on April 23rd, 1945, to Milos and Bessie (Gerlach) Bares in Jackson, Minnesota. Millie was baptized on March 13th, 1947, at the United Methodist Church in Jackson. Millie graduated from Jackson High School in the class of 1963. Following high school, she attended beauty school in Fairmont, Minnesota where she received a degree in Cosmetology. She worked in a salon in Fairmont until meeting her future husband, Arthur Swanson.

Millie was united in marriage to Arthur Swanson on April 11th, 1965, in Jackson. This union was blessed with four children: Brenda, Dawn, Corey, and Chad. After their marriage, Art and Millie moved to an acreage outside of Lakefield where they engaged in farming and raising livestock until retirement.

Millie had many jobs throughout her life, including cutting hair for local ladies, painting and wallpapering, packaging candy at Sather's in Round Lake, and working on the farm. Those who knew Millie the best knew she was always happy and had a smile on her face. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening, collecting angels, cooking and baking. Many people enjoyed the hundreds of Christmas cookies she baked every December with her good friend, Sandee. She also volunteered as a member of the Ladies Aid at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Millie enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and Art and Millie's annual family fishing trips were a special time for everyone to enjoy.

Millie passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26th at the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson, MN.

She is survived by her four children: Brenda Fischer of Jackson, Dawn (Darren) Johnson of Jackson, Corey (Danyelle) Swanson of Lakefield, and Chad (Dee) Swanson of Dayton; grandchildren: Seth, Luke, Colin (Hannah), Kaitlin (Cody), Jackson (Marlee), Ashley (Eric), Andrea (Dave), Carissa (Wade), Jayden and Logan; great-grandchildren: Gus, Jon, Blakely, Brielle, Reagan, Greysen, Caeden, Sheridan and Everett; siblings: Galen Bares of Fargo, North Dakota; and sisters-in-law: Myrna Farrar and Joan Bares.
