Morris "Fred" Fredrick Soleta was born on September 12, 1947, in Windom, Minnesota to Wilburt Fred John and Helen (Larson) Soleta. He was baptized in 1947 in Okabena and later confirmed on June 25, 1961. He received his education in the Okabena Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1965. He then furthered his education at the Canby Vocational School for two years as a diesel and farm mechanic.
On March 9, 1974, Fred was united in marriage to Marleen Frances Hewett. This marriage was blessed with two children, Jason and Tanya. Fred was self employed as owner of Soleta Repair and as owner of MS Trucking that was leased to CHS for twenty-five years. Recently, due to declining health, Fred could no longer work. He was hospitalized in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and then became a resident of the Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake where he was under care from Compassionate Hospice. He passed away there, with his family at his side, on Sunday morning, December 26, 2010, at the age of 63 years.
Fred was a longtime member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena where he ushered in his earlier years. He was also very involved in his community as a member of the Okabena Volunteer Fire Department, Okabena Community Club, Jackson County Relay for Life, Okabena Elevator Board, Treasurer for the Jackson County Snowdrifters, and served pancakes and barbeques for numerous benefits in the surrounding communities. His hobbies included playing pool, fishing, riding motorcycle, camping and spending time with his family. Fred will be remembered for his love of farming and truck driving.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of thirty-six years, Marleen Soleta of Heron Lake; one son and one daughter, Jason Soleta of Okabena and Tanya Soleta of Minneapolis; father, Wilburt Soleta of Heron Lake; one brother, Darwin Soleta and his wife, Jody, of Heron Lake; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Fred is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Soleta.
