To Our Beloved Family Members and Friends,

Mykil Gene Vonk, age 30, of Heron Lake, Minnesota, passed away at his home on December 9, 2025.

Mykil was born in Windom, Minnesota on July 25, 1995, to Myron and Catherine (Engler) Vonk. He grew up on a farm outside of Heron Lake and attended Southwest Star Concept High School in Okabena, Minnesota, where he graduated in 2013. He was a self-employed farmer, with his father, on the Vonk family farm. Mykil, known as "Honkey", was a funny, caring and adventurous person. In his free time, he hunted deer or pheasants and enjoyed watching Minnesota sports games. Mykil loved his dog and always included his precious pet on any daily adventures.

Mykil is survived by both of his parents, sister Janae Kazemba, and brother-in-law Brendan Kazemba; multiple aunts, uncles and cousins; his dog Trooper; plus many friends. He was preceded in death by all grandparents, two uncles, cousin, Danielle Moore, and one dog, Ruger.

A Celebration of Life Open House for Mykil will be held on January 10, 2026, from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at the Heron Lake Community Center in Heron Lake, Minnesota. Everyone is welcome to attend, and the family encourages guests to wear any Minnesota sports apparel to commemorate Mykil's interests.

Monetary donations in Mykil's memory will go towards bladder exstrophy research, which is a medical condition that Mykil lived with since birth. Donations for medical research can be brought to the Celebration of Life event.
