Myles "Inches" Delano Ashburn was born on August 18, 1940 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Floyd and Olive (Austin) Ashburn. He was baptized and later confirmed. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1958 and then went on to attend Mankato State University and Northwest Technical Institute of Minneapolis, Minnesota. On September 2, 1961, Myles was united in marriage to Kate (Peterson) Ashburn in Granite Falls, Minnesota. They later divorced. Myles worked as a draftsman in Minneapolis in multiple areas until 1975. He then moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota where he taught at the Granite Falls AVTI until retiring. On April 3, 1998, Myles was united in marriage to Nancy Fomkert and soon after she passed away. Myles met Julie Schnieder and they lived in Ortonville, Minnesota for a short time before moving to Windom, Minnesota where they made their home. Myles and Julie spent many years together. Myles passed away suddenly on Saturday morning, January 14, 2017 at the Windom Area Hospital at the age of 76. Myles was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom where he ushered. He will be remembered as an outdoorsman who enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, canoeing, hiking and climbing. He loved fitness and working out, Sudoku, adult coloring and was a true Minnesota sports fan. He is survived by his loving friend, Julie Schnieder; three children, Mark (Yolanda) Ashburn of Yuma, AZ, Stephanie (Paul) Williams-Ashburn of Rapid City, SD and Mike (Summer) Ashburn of Appleton, WI; four grandchildren; three great-grandchilren; ex-wife, Kate Ashburn of Minnetonka; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Fomkert; and one brother, Alan Ashburn. Blessed be the memory of Myles "Inches" Delano Ashburn. Memorials are preferred.
