Myron Appel was born on Feb 27, 1935 to Henry and Laura (Uhlken) Appel. He attended school in Lakefield, MN. Growing up Myron helped his parents farm.
Myron met Lorraine Rehnelt, and they were married on December 25, 1955 in Okabena, MN. Myron and Lorraine worked for several area farmers, before purchasing their own farm south of Windom. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Deanna, Robert, Nancy and Randy. Later, the marriage was dissolved.
Several years later, Myron met Marilu (Kirk) Scheneman. The couple were united in marriage on November 18, 1987 in Las Vegas, NV. Myron and Marilu farmed together for many years, before selling the farm and moving in to Windom. Together they enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Marilu passed on September 28, 2002.
Myron worked at the Windom Country Club as the Groundskeeper, retiring at the age of 80.
Myron was an excellent cook and took great pride in his culinary skills. He enjoyed dancing, gambling at the casino, fishing, bean bags, camping and visiting with friends and neighbors.
On Monday, April 19, 2021, Myron passed away in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 86.
Myron is survived by three children, Deanna (Scott) Bacca of Scottsdale, AZ; Robert (Denise) of Windom; and Nancy Wagner of Broomfield, CO; fourteen grandchildren, Jeramie Anderson, Amy Grass, Kristen McNabb, Kalin Bacca, Tyler Bacca, Derick Appel, Leslie Nunley, Austin Appel, Erica Appel, Brooke Wegener, Jordyn Wagner, Brianna Kack, Brady Appel, and Sarah Howley; three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, his ex-wife and friend, Lorraine Benes; siblings Marv Appel and Lorraine Carlson, as well as many other friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Laura; his wife, Marilu; and his son, Randy Appel.

A Celebration of Life Service Myron Appel, age 86 of Windom will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 2 PM at the American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Sarah Larsen Tade' officiating. Burial will take place in the Delafield Township Cemetery in rural Windom. There will be a lunch at the Windom Community Center following the burial.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Myron Appel passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Masks are required to attend the visitation and funeral service.
