Nancy Jane Jenkins, age 82, passed away on November 9, 2021 at her daughter Kay's home in Lakewood, Colorado after being diagnosed in October with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and placed in Hospice Care. Nancy was born on March 4, 1939 in Mountain Lake, MN and grew up in Bingham Lake. She attended elementary school in Bingham Lake and then went to the Windom schools where she graduated high school. In May 1957 Nancy married Richard Jenkins of Lakefield and they resided in Windom where their three daughters, Jane, Barbara and Kay were born. The family attended and were members of the United Methodist Church. Nancy enjoyed serving with the United Methodist Women. She worked in the nursing field in Windom and Minneapolis for 40+ years as an aide, an LPN and RN. Some of Nancy's favorite memories came from spending time with family and friends. Richard and Nancy loved wintering in Apache Junction, AZ after they retired and made many friends. The Arizona sun and the many activities they enjoyed near their home were something they both looked forward to each year. Throughout her life, Nancy treasured the daily phone conversations she had with her mother. She always spoke with the kindest words about her mom. Playing cards with friends in Bayport and Stillwater and morning coffee were regular activities Nancy enjoyed in her later years. Throughout her life she loved being around people and will be remembered for inviting conversations wherever she went. Nancy was especially proud of her girls, her grandchildren and the way they supported her. Nancy is survived by daughters Jane Imperiale (Christopher) of St. Paul, MN; Barbara Grell of Papillion, NE; Kay Cowell of Lakewood, CO; grandsons Brett Grell (Nicole) of Papillion, NE; Tyler Grell (Chelsea) of St. Charles, MO; granddaughters Madeline Cowell of Lakewood, CO; Kristina Cowell of Boulder, CO; great grandsons Connor and Colin Grell of Papillion, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Jenkins, parents Frank and Dorothy Hiebert, brother Delevan Hiebert, sisters Louise Brugman and Virginia Hay, and son-in-law Perry Grell. A Celebration of Life Service for Nancy Jenkins, age 82, of Lakewood, CO, formerly of Windom, will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 15th, at the LaCanne Family Funeral Home, in Windom, with Pastor Mike McInnis officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 15th, at the LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom. Nancy Jenkins passed away on Tuesday, November 9th, at her daughter's home in Lakewood, CO. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the LaCanne Family Funeral Service in Windom.
