Obituary

Nancy Marie Reinitz was born on December 2nd, 1951, in Heron Lake, Minnesota to Rose and Gene Liepold. She was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake, MN and later confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom, MN. Along with many dear life-long friends, she graduated from Windom High School in 1970. As Nancy was growing up, she would jokingly lock her sister, Deb, out of the house with a cup of sugar to eat the rhubarb out of the garden as an after-school snack. Even though she loved to pick on her brother and sister, they had many great memories. One of those fun memories is when her brother, Tim, was supposed to watch Nancy while their parents were at work. Tim was not supposed to take Nancy to the Cottonwood County Fair. They thought they got away with going until they ended up on the front page of the newspaper waiting in line for free milk. Nancy met Dale at the Skateland Rollerdome and on September 26th, 1970, they were united in marriage at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. They spent 51 happy years together. Nancy worked for Sperry Univac Corp for 13 years. Later Nancy and Dale purchased the Skateland Rollerdome and ran it for 17 years. Skateland brought many great friends into their lives, and she was known as "Mom" by many. For many years, both Nancy and Dale also participated in the Clowns on Wheels and performed in many area parades. Nancy enjoyed driving the 4-wheeler with all the candy while the rest of the clowns navigated the streets on their roller skates. When Nancy and Dale were not "clowning around" or running the skating rink, they spent their time fishing and camping at Eastside Acres in Round Lake, Minnesota. On occasion their nieces and nephew would join them to make some special memories. Nancy was rarely seen without a crochet hook in her hand, and she could finish a whole blanket within hours. Nancy made hundreds of blankets and other crochet items for her family and friends. In her later years, she did put her crochet hook aside to pick up a Bingo blotter. Her and Dale enjoyed playing Bingo in various locations. Nancy had a smile that would light up a room, a contagious laugh, and heart of gold. She truly was a "Mom" to many. We will greatly miss her. Nancy passed away unexpectedly on May 1st at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Dale; one daughter, Karla (Harry) Waltner and 4 grandchildren (Bradley, Aerana, Cassandra, Cody) of Tea, SD; one brother, Timothy (Michelle) Liepold Sr. of Rochester, MN; one sister, Deb (Ted) Horkey of Windom, MN; Her nieces and nephew – Amanda (Dan) Price (their children Kayla and Gracie) of Eyota, MN; Kelly (Caleb) Brown (their son Brennen) of Windom, MN; Timothy (Tracy) Liepold, Jr. (their children Hunter, McKenzie and Brock) of Byron, MN; Erica (Casey) Voehl (their children Liam and Jaden) of Aberdeen, SD; Abby (Clint) Mitchell (their children Nolan and Amsey) of Fremont, NE. Nancy was also a great great aunt to Ivan Brown (son of Brennen Brown) of Windom, MN. Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Gene Liepold, Jr; her mother, Rose (Gerald) Veenker; and her brother Randy Veenker.
