Obituary

Neil G. Norland was born on March 25, 1921 in Arthur, North Dakota to Adolph and Esther (Carlson) Norland. He was baptized in Arthur and later confirmed at the Delafield Lutheran Church in Delafield Township. He received his education in the rural schools of Delafield Township and Miloma. On July 28, 1962, Neil was united in marriage to Emma Rickert at the American Lutheran Church Chapel in Windom. After marriage, Neil and Emma lived in Windom where Neil worked at the Toro Company for 25 years as a custodian. He retired from there at the age of 62. He also kept busy mowing lawns and blowing snow for others. In 1998, due to his health, Neil became a resident at the Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Society in Windom. Neil enjoyed fishing and going to the Wisconsin Dells where he loved riding on the boats. He will be remembered for his kindness, but most of all the love he had for his wife Emma. Neil passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the Windom Area Hospital at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Emma, of Windom; one brother, Bruce Norland and his wife, Diryl, of Heron Lake; one sister, Carol Paquette and her husband, Ralph, of South Hadley, MA; two sister-in-law's, Esther Janzen, of Mountain Lake and Delores Rickert, of Mountain Lake; and several nieces and nephews. Neil is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Norland; and one sister, Ardith Langland. Blessed be the memory of Neil G. Norland.
