Norma J. Grunewald was born on March 10, 1936, in Windom Minnesota to the late William and Mildred (Paulson) Pierce. She received her education in the Windom Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1954.
On April 30, 1955, Norma was united in marriage to Neal Billings Grunewald at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with two children, Gary and Tammy. Through the years, Norma was the bookkeeper for Neal's backhoe company along with selling Avon, organizing greeting cards at Pamida and Hy-Vee and selling Christmas Decorations for her business known as Grunewald Holiday De-Lites. Norma lived her entire life in Windom.
On September 20, 2019, Norma was taken to the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she passed away at the age of 83 years.
Norma was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom. She had many enjoyments in life which included reading, vacationing, genealogy, bird watching-especially cardinals, taking care of the farm, her grand dogs, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her two children, Gary (Monica) Grunewald of Windom; Tammy (Roger) Holt of Windom; 5 grandchildren, Christopher (Alissa) Grunewald; Michelle (John) Nelson; Tammy (Brian) Draper; Dan (Erin) Holt; Robyn (Rob) Scripture; seven great-grandchildren, Thomas, Payton and Ann Scripture; Erin Vos; Avery and Alden Holt; and Oliver Grunewald and was going to be blessed with another one on the way in December; one sister, Deb (Jim) VanOosbree of Rochester; and two nephews, Brian (Rachel) of Bismarck, ND and Eric (Ruthie) VanOosbree of St. Paul; and members of her coffee group.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Neal Grunewald on November 18, 2017.
She will be missed by many family and friends.
