A time of visitation and gathering will be held at the Center Point Church in Mountain Lake on Wednesday, May 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday, May 2nd for one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake.

Pastor Virginia "Marie" (Ghastin) Savage was born on June 26, 1984, to Jim and Cindy (Page) Ghastin in Lansing, Michigan. At a young age Marie surrendered her life to Jesus and publicly professed her faith through water baptism. Marie received her secondary education at Rudyard Area Schools and graduated from Rudyard High School in 2002. She enrolled at North Central University in Minneapolis. In 2007, she was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.

On May 15, 2004, Marie was united in marriage to David Ryan Savage in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The marriage was blessed with three children: David Ezra, Hannah Marie, and Abigail Joy. Marie loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed running, camping, swimming, and most of all worshiping Jesus.

Marie taught at Mountain Lake Public Elementary School from 2007-2009. Beginning in 2007, she also worked alongside her husband as he pastored Center Point Church in Mountain Lake. She lived to worship the Lord and loved telling people about Jesus and how wonderful the Holy Spirit is. In 2019, Marie responded to the call of God to become a minister of the Gospel. In 2022, she was ordained as an Assemblies of God Minister.

Marie's formal role was to pastor the children and women of Center Point. She was an anointed preacher,  and in reality, she pastored everyone she met with warmth and wisdom. She served as a Credentialed Women's Cadre Leader for the Minnesota District of the Assemblies of God. From 2019-2024 Marie was a Parent Educator for Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) in Mountain Lake.

On April 27, 2024, Marie died tragically and was taken into the arms of Jesus. She was doing something she loved to do, running, as she trained for the upcoming Grandma's Marathon in Duluth.

Left to cherish her everlasting legacy, are her loving husband of twenty years, David Savage of Mountain Lake; her three children, David Ezra Savage, Hannah Marie Savage and Abigail Joy Savage of Mountain Lake; her parents, Jim and Cindy Ghastin of Bonifay, Florida; sisters, Kate (Kurt) Morehouse of Stockbridge, Michigan, Connie (AJ) Clark of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Amanda (Dave) Korns of Mountain Lake; parents-in-law, Timothy and Cheryl Savage of Mountain Lake, brother-in-law, Craig (Danielle) Savage of Maple Ridge, British Columbia; and sister-in-law, Angela (Greg) Taylor of Cave Creek, Arizona; grandfather, William Page of Detroit, Michigan; as well as many dear relatives and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her grandparents Nancy Ellen Page, Neva Jean Ghastin, and James F. Ghastin.

Marie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and sharing in her love of Jesus. Her legacy of service, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire those she loved. May she rejoice in her eternal home with Jesus!
