Obituary

Patricia Ann (Nolte) Miller was born to Clarence and Viola Nolte at Fairmont, MN on May 10, 1932 and was baptized on June 1, 1932 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fairmont, MN. She was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason City, IA on April 14, 1946. Pat spent the first three years of her life in Fairmont, MN, then moved with her parents to Blue Earth, MN until she finished 4th grade, when they moved to Mason City, IA. Her senior year and high school graduation were in Mankato, MN after her family moved there. She graduated from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, MN with an Associate Arts degree in 1952 and married Donald R. Miller that summer. Don and Pat spent the first two years of their married life separated as Don was serving in the USAF in Germany and Pat was teaching at St. Peter Lutheran School in rural Lakefield, MN. Don came back from Germany to be stationed at Albuquerque, NM where they spent the next two years. Douglas Brian was born to them while living there. After her husband was discharged from the Air Force, they came back to Mankato, MN whereupon Don earned his Bachelor's Degree. A teaching position took them to Worthington, MN where their family was blessed with three more children; Denise Lynn, David Paul, and Ann Elizabeth. After receiving his Master's Degree, Don took positions in Brewster, MN and later in Windom as a School Counselor. Besides her teaching years, Pat also worked as a Deputy Clerk at Cottonwood County Court for ten years. She received her Bachelor's Degree at Mankato State University in 1986 when she was 54 years old. Following that she worked at Cottonwood-Jackson Community Health Services for 25 years. Along the years, Pat served her Lord as Cherub Choir Director, Confirmation Choir Director and Facilitated Grief and Loss Support Groups for 13 years. She taught Sunday School, Confirmation Class, sang in the church choir, interviewed and wrote up introductions to new members. She sent bereavement packets and was a faithful member of the LWML. She hosted the Joanna Circle catered Christmas dinners for 17 years. Pat was secretary to the newly formed Windom Friends of the Library Advisory Board. She was a member and served as secretary on the Windom Area Sharing Center Board of Directors. She treasured her family and friends and touched many lives with her graciousness. She enjoyed writing poetry and songs, quilting, knitting, tending her flower garden and playing cards. Pat was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her children: Douglas (Mary), Denise, David (Christe), and Ann (John) Gannon. Her grandchildren: Daniel Miller, Timothy (Erin) Miller, Erin (Levi) Peterson, and Lauren Gannon Her two sisters: Joyce (Paul) Faga and Liz (Ken) Kamprath, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a preborn son.
