Patricia "Pat" Jo Baloun was born in Jackson, Minnesota to the late Leonard and Darlene (Hampel) Jenkins. She was baptized at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson and later confirmed in that same church. Pat received her education in Jackson Public Schools; graduating from Jackson High School in the Class of 1978. She furthered her education at Mankato State University and graduated in May of 1982 with a Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Gerontology. On June 19, 1982, Pat was united in marriage to Alan Baloun at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson. This marriage was blessed with three sons, Jared, Trevor and Brady. Pat taught at the University of Minnesota in Crookston Children Center for 11 years from 1982-1993. Pat and Al moved to Windom where Pat became the Interim Community Education Director until 1994. She was a Head Start Teacher for the SW-WC Service Co-op serving Windom and neighboring school districts until retiring in February of 2018 after 25 years of service. Pat was diagnosed with brain cancer in January 2018. After a strong fought battle, she went into hospice care in March 2019. On Sunday, June 9, 2019, Pat passed away peacefully at Windom Area Health in Windom at the age of 59 years. Pat was an active member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. She will be remembered for her love of quilting, cooking, baking cakes for her grandchildren known as "Patty Cakes", camping, going to family events, her love of the holidays, and spending time with her grandchildren. Pat is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Al Baloun of Windom; three sons, Jared (Abby Grove) Baloun of Windom; Trevor Baloun of Mankato; Brady (Samantha) Baloun of Windom; 7 grandchildren, Ruby, Graycee, Tyson, Mason, Nolan, Alizabeth and Carter; one sister and one brother, Jody (Jerry) Jenkins-Roth of Red Wing, MN and Mark Jenkins of Sioux Falls, SD.; mother-in-law, Sharon Baloun of Windom; and many nieces and nephews. Pat is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kevin Jenkins and father-in-law, Francis Baloun. Blessed be the memory of Patricia "Pat" J. Baloun.
