Paul Janning passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the Sanford Jackson Medical Center in Jackson, MN.
Paul James Janning was born on December 7, 1944, to Harold and Lillian (Torgerson) Janning in Manchester, Iowa. In 1963, he graduated from Pacelli High School in Austin. Paul then enlisted in the Army in 1965 and honorably served his country in the reserves for many years, while he continued his college education. He received degrees in Autobody Rebuilding in 1965 from Austin Vocational, Construction Electrician in 1975 from Jackson Area Vo-Tech, associate in science in 1985 from Rochester Community College, and Law Enforcement Skills in 1986 from Hibbing Area Vo-Tech.
He grew up in Austin and moved to Jackson, where he lived. Paul met the love of his life, Brenda Fay and they were married on June 1, 1991. Brenda was blessed with two children, Tammy and Lonny, from Paul's previous marriage, and together, they were later blessed with two children, Jeff and Dani.
Paul worked as a journeyman electrician at Sohn Electric. He proudly worked for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy for 23 1/2 years. When he retired in 2008, he continued working as a Bailiff. He also did construction work with his good buddy Craig and worked at Jackson County Central School.
He spent many hours working on his cars, doing his own autobody and mechanical work. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, and attending music concerts in his spare time. His most memorable concert was seeing ZZ Top perform and other 80s music concerts. Most of all, he loved sharing stories with family and friends, and he enjoyed coffee. Paul had a strong faith and attended First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Brenda of 33 years; children, Tammy (Charlie) Loncorich of Hutchinson, Lonny Janning of Howard Lake, Jeff Janning of Cokato, and Dani Janning of Jackson; grandchildren, Brittany Baldry, Brooke Loncorich, Taylor and Nathan Janning; great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Kayden, Cooper, Maxlyn, and Madi; sister, Marie (Steve) Loverink of Medford; sister-in-law, Tina Janning of Spokane, WA; and many nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Charlie Janning and Mike (Joy) Janning.
He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Blessed be the memory of Paul J. Janning.
