Paul Frederick Steen was born on a farm in Dakota City, Nebraska on August 4, 1939, to the late Pete and Hilda (Thede) Steen. After a few years, Paul moved with his parents to Cleghorn, Iowa where he attended school for a brief period, before settling on a farm in Amo Township near Storden, Minnesota. Paul received his education in Storden and graduated from Storden High School in the class of 1957. After graduation, Paul entered the service, serving in the 1st Inf., the 2nd Armored Div. After being deployed to Korea, he returned home to the family farm. On June 28, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jane Boetel, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park, Iowa. Paul and Jane farmed the home farm and raised a family of seven children. Paul was an avid horseman, and hunter. He went to South Dakota many times and spent time on the ranches. He also loved to rope and participated in many ropings in various states. Hunting occupied his time in the earlier years, and he enjoyed collecting Winchesters and Colts. Paul was baptized in the Methodist Church in Holstein, Iowa. A few years later he joined the Amo Methodist Church, where he and his wife were members until its closing. He was secretary/treasurer of Storden Livestock, President of the Amo Cemetery Association, Secretary/Treasurer of Korean War Veterans Association (life member), member of the American Legion, and member of the VFW (life member). He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jane of Storden, MN, and six children, Teresa Landreth and husband Russ of Burneyville, OK, Gail Clifford of Huron, SD, Denise Steen and fiancé David Blackwood of Martinsville, NJ, Jason Steen and wife Tammy of Cleveland, MN, Dulcey Bellig and husband David of New Ulm, MN, Darius Steen and is wife Stacey of Nicollet, MN, nine grand-children; Benjamin Paul, Lucas Mark, and Nathan Alex Clifford of Milford, IA; Jayna Lee and Madisyn Faye Steen of Cleveland, MN; Eva Frances and Elin Sandra Bellig of New Ulm, MN; and Dylan Richard Willaert and Braelyn Jeanette Steen of Nicollet, MN. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; one son Lloyd.
