Paul Richard Thorkelson, 67 of Windom, MN died suddenly May 4, 2018. He was taken to the Windom Hospital by ambulance and died there. Paul was born March 27, 1951 to Endre and Teckla Thorkelson of Maynard, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Maynard Lutheran Church. He graduated from Maynard High School. After obtaining his pilot's license he flew a Red Baron biplane for Schwan's of Marshall, MN. Following that he worked in sales for Schwan's in Baton Rouge, LA for a time. He also did aerial crop spraying in the Maynard area. After he stopped crop spraying he attended Granite Falls Technical College and obtained a certificate in hydraulics after which he was employed in hydraulics sales in Memphis, TN, Portland, OR and then out of Windom, MN. He retired from sales at the age of 62. He then became a bus driver for Western Community Action and transported people around the Windom area. This was a job he truly enjoyed. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Paul was a warm hearted, friendly man and had many loving and devoted friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Endre and Teckla Thorkelson and his oldest brother Donald Thorkelson (Sharon). He is survived by his brother Ronald Thorkelson (Kaye), sisters Judith Thorkelson, Cheryle Reinertsen (Dave), and Laurie Thorkelson, 4 nieces and 2 nephews plus several great nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by dear friends Rory and Barb Johnson of Windom, MN.
