Richard J. Johnson was born on September 21, 1935, in Windom, Minnesota to the late Jens Eli and Helga Sophie (Olson) He was baptized at a young age in the American Lutheran Church in Windom and later confirmed in that same church. Richard received his early education in country school and later graduated from Windom Public Schools. On November 4, 1957, Richard was united in marriage to Lois L. Lammers at the American Lutheran Church. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Linda and Phyllis. After their marriage, Richard and Lois lived on a farm outside of Windom that was homesteaded by Richard's grandpa. Through the years, Richard was a hard working farmer who loved spending time with his family. Lois passed away on August 6, 2013. After her death, Richard stayed on the farm until recently when due to declining health; he could no longer live there. In the early morning hours of Wednesday morning, September 30, 2015, Richard went home to be with his Lord at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington at the age of 80 years. Richard was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Richard will be remembered for his enjoyment of going to flea markets, vacationing with Lois- especially in the Black Hills, collecting marbles, attending hockey games and all sports, going to Jackpot Junction every once in a while and having lunch with his lunch buddies at Hardee's. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Richard is survived by his two daughters, Linda Torkelson and her husband, Randy, of Windom and Phyllis Lindemann and her husband, Tim, of Windom; two grandchildren, Jessica Torkelson and Jared Koch of Windom and Hilary Mathis and her husband, Bryce, of Windom; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Turner and her husband, Bill, of Minnetonka; special friends, Jack and Sandi Rogers of Windom; Jessica Garrison and family of Windom; Casey Harrington and family of Windom; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Johnson; grandson, Jamie Torkelson; and one sister, Sylvia Frederickson. Blessed be the memory of Richard Johnson.
