Richard "Butch" Dean Raverty was born on May 12, 1951, at Camp Rucker, Alabama to Richard and Joann (Hayes) Raverty. He received his education in the Windom Public Schools. After finishing his education, Butch joined the National Guard for four years. He then returned to Windom where he worked for ten years. He was later united in marriage to Bonny Novian. This marriage was later dissolved
In 1980, Butch moved to Breckenridge, Texas where he began to work for Triple S Dynamics for the next twenty seven years as a welder until this past summer when he took a medical leave due to his diagnosis of cancer. In October, he moved home to Richard and Dorothy's home in Windom to be closer to his family and spend his final days fighting his courageous battle against cancer. On Tuesday afternoon, Butch passed away at his home in Windom at the age of 56.
Through the years, Butch had many enjoyments in life which included hunting, fishing, gambling, motorcycles, and most of all, his family whom he greatly loved.
Butch is survived by his father and mother, Richard and Dorothy Raverty of Windom; three children, Stephanie Raverty of Pequot Lakes; Mark Raverty and his wife, Amy of Windom; Lee Raverty and his wife, Katie of Mora; step-daughter, Joni Benoit of Breckenridge, TX; three grandchildren, Lyncoln Johnson of Pequot Lakes; Livia Raverty of Mora; Sarah Benoit of Breckenridge, TX; brothers and sisters, Benedict Raverty of Sparks, NV; Linda and Bryan Hagen of Brainerd; Gregory Raverty of Minneapolis; Paula Raverty of Windom; and several nieces and nephews.
Butch is preceded in death by his mother, Joan Hayes.
