Richard and Kathleen (Vosika) Johnson were united in life and remain so in memory, leaving behind a legacy rooted in faith, family, and a shared journey that began in Willmar, Minnesota. Both were born in 1952; Rick on March 21 and Kathy on November 6. They grew up in Willmar where they both graduated from Willmar High School. Their lifelong partnership officially began when they were united in marriage on November 14, 1970.
After spending their early years in Willmar, the family made their home in Jackson, Minnesota, the community they called home until their passing. Rick was a man of steady dedication, working at AGCO for over 35 years before retiring in 2019. Kathy also spent the majority of her work career at AGCO, retiring in 2015. Even in retirement, their bond was inseparable; when Kathy took a part-time position at Dudley's Garage to stay active, Rick soon joined her there, as he couldn't stand to be away from her for long.
Rick and Kathy were raised in the Christian faith, a pillar that remained unshakable throughout their lives. They taught their children that without faith and family, one had nothing. This devotion was never more evident than during the loss of their son, a trial they met with a testament of faith that drew their family even closer together. They were the devoted parents of Eric, Kelly, Lindsey, Kristin, and Kassandra, and they cherished every moment spent following their grandchildren's activities.
Kathy was known for her warm voice, her love of puzzles, and her precious lawn. She treated her children's friends as her own and was famous for the odd candy assortments she brought everywhere. Rick, though a man of few words, possessed a surprising wit and a memorable dance jig. Together, they shared a love for camping, eagerly anticipating the opening of their camper every April. Their lives were a beautiful example of enduring love, compassionate hearts, and steadfast devotion to those they held close.
On March 20, 2026, Rick and Kathy were received into the loving hands of their Savior, Jesus Christ. Surrounded by family, Rick and Kathy entered eternal rest, along with their daughters, Kelly Hargus and Lindsey Rossow as a result of a motor vehicle accident. In this profound loss, we hold close the comfort that they are now together, held in God's eternal care.
Rick and Kathy are survived by their daughters, Kristin (Nate) Hanson of Jackson, and Kassie (Jeremy) Ambrose of Jackson; sons-in-law, Paul Hargus of Jackson, and Eric Rossow of Lakefield; their 11 grandchildren, Keylee, Karlee, Peyton, Brett, Nolan, Erica, Grant, Alexa, Bricyn, Blake, and Taylor; Rick's sister; Kay Gilbertson of Moorhead, MN; Kathy's siblings; Dianne Swenson of Hastings, Larry Vosika of Detroit Lakes, Mike (Diane) Vosika of Willmar, and John (Jodi) Vosika of Mesa, AZ; many nieces and nephews, and their cherished pets, Milo and Bella.
They are preceded in death by their son, Eric Johnson; Rick's parents, Warren and Leone Johnson; Kathy's parents, Benjamin and Mary Vosika; Rick's siblings, Tim Johnson, Pat Knutson; and Kathy's sister, Gloria Johnson.
