Ricky "Rick" Dwayne Gannott was born on September 23, 1955, in Tracy, Minnesota to the late George Edward and Amy May (Towne) Gannott. He was baptized at a young age and lived in Balaton until he was eight years old when he moved to the Hadley Corner. Rick received his education in the Slayton Public Schools, graduating in the Class of 1974. He then furthered his education at Canby Vo-Tech, receiving an AA degree in auto mechanics. On April 23, 1977, Rick was united in marriage to Lanita "Lonnie" Sandhurst in rural Fulda at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (Phingsten). This marriage was blessed with two sons, Michael and Matthew. Ricky and Lonnie made their home in Windom and Rick worked at Higley Ford in Windom right out of school until retiring on April 1, 2020. Rick had many enjoyments in life which included his classic cars and if he could preserve or restore it he would, he loved being outdoors, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was extremely proud of his two sons and grandsons. On Friday evening, August 7, 2020, Rick became suddenly ill at his home in Windom and was taken to Windom Area Health where he passed away at the age of 64 years. Rick was a longtime member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom; Karz-n-Trux Car Club, assisted in organizing the annual car show, was a member of the Crown Victoria Association and the Cushman Club of America. Rick will be greatly missed by his wife of forty-three years, Lonnie Gannott of Windom; two sons, Michael (Kimberly) Gannott of Huntsville, AR; Matthew (James) Klein Gannott of Plymouth; two grandsons, Elliot and Merek Klein Gannott; one sister and two brothers, Verna (Wayne) Wee of Hadley; David (Marilyn) Gannott of Marshall; Kenneth Gannott of Plymouth; sister-in-law, Marlene Gannott of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. Rick is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Edward Gannott; two sisters, Mary Hetland and Kathy Succucci; brother-in-law, Rick Succucci and Gerald Hetland.
